Michael G. Lynch, 65, of Iselin died Aug. 27 at the Lyons Campus of the New Jersey VA Hospital System. He was the husband of Joyce Liska Lynch, executive assistant to Bishop Paul G. Bootkoski.
Born in Boston to the late Walter and Mary Lynch, Michael lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., before residing in Iselin for the past 41 years. He served his country in the United Stated Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Michael was a professional firefighter in the Jersey City Fire Department for 25 years, ultimately serving as captain. He retired in 2005. His most recent employment was as Fire Safety Director at JP Morgan Chase Bank in Jersey City. Michael was a member of the Essex County Emerald Society Police & Fire Pipe & Drum Band, and also a member of the Leatherneck Pipes and Drum Band. He belonged to the VFW in Avenel and the Vietnam Veterans of America. He was an avid collector of unique Marine and firefighter memorabilia.
Michael is predeceased by his brother, Mark Lynch. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Ryan P. Lynch and his wife, Deepa Kairen, of South Orange; and Timothy M. Lynch and his wife, Sara, of North Brunswick; and four grandchildren, Zachary, Sahana, Aryana and Devina.

Mike was a unique and passionate individual. He had a great deal of pride and affection for his family and service. He is loved by his family and friends.
